Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A total of MNT 107.3 billion of construction and installation work were made nationwide in the first eight months of this year. Of them MNT 99.6 billion or 92.8 per cent of the work were executed by domestic entities, and MNT 7.7 billion or 7.2 per cent--by foreign ones.
At of the transportation sector, 2,349.3 thousand passengers and 10,485.5 thousand tons freight were carried by railway transport at the duplicated number. Compared to the same period of 2009, the number of passengers carried rose 154.8 thousand people or 7.1 per cent, the number of freight carried rose 1,589.0 thousand tons or 17.9 per cent.
Due to the increase in carried freight and passengers, a revenue from railway transport increased MNT 50.9 billion or 36.8 per cent to MNT 189.4 billion against the previous year.
In the first eight months of 2010, 262.4 thousand passengers and 1099.6 tons freight were carried by air transport at the duplicated number. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of carried passengers rose by 53.2 thousand people or 25.4 per cent, the number of carried freight rose by 287.4 tons or 35.4 per cent. Due to the increase in carried freight and passengers, revenue from air transport increased by MNT 10.4 billion or 14.0 per cent to MNT 85.2 billion in the first eight months of 2010, against the previous year.
