Tehran-Manama ties in highest level: Bahraini FM

Tehran, Sept 12, IRNA – Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmad al-Khalifa in farewell meeting of Iranian outgoing Ambassador Hossein Amir-Abdullahian said that ties between the two countries have entered an era of strategic cooperation.

Referring to the existing excellent relations between the two countries, he noted that signing security agreement between Iran and Bahrain which entered into its implementation phase in recent months, indicated the depth of the strategic ties between the two countries.
He welcomed Iran’s Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar upcoming ministerial meeting of Iraq neighboring countries in Manama, which is to be held on September 29-30 .

Referring to the written message of Bahraini king to Iranian president, which was delivered by Bahrain Oil Minister in his recent visit to Tehran, the Sheikh said that the bilateral relations have successfully passed past sensitivities and now in addition to international and regional cooperation the two countries are cooperating in strategic issues such as political, security and economic issues, especially in the issues like gas export, fight against terrorism.

Sheikh Khalid, by referring to the sincere relations between Bahrain King Hamid bin Eissa al-Khalifa and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as well as friendly ties between foreign ministers of both countries, appreciated Iranian ambassador's efforts in this concern.

The Iranian ambassador reviewed bilateral ties developments as well as international and regional issues and continued that multilateral cooperation among regional countries will bear collective interests of these nations and will help stability and development in the region.

Referring to Iraq and the region developments, Amir-Abdullahian called Interior minister's meeting in Manama very important for establishing security and stability in Iraq.

He also expressed hope that King of Bahrain pays a visit to Iran in current year./end
