Cooperation with Russia to benefit entire EU - Polish president.
WARSAW, September 11 (Itar-Tass) -- Cooperation with Russia is in the
interests of the entire European Union, President Bronislaw Komorowski, of
Poland, told a news conference in Latvia's capital Riga.
"Poland puts its stake on a dialogue and cooperation with Russia. We
will seek ways of enhancing this cooperation in all fields. I am convinced
that there is no difference between Poland and other EU countries, because
the dialogue and good neighborly relations are our mutual interests," the
presidential office quotes Komorowski as saying.
He declared that Poland would always strive for a common EU foreign
policy, including that directed towards the East.
"Stronger positions of Poland and the Baltic countries in the EU and
NATO create conditions not only for the dialogue with Russia, but also for
exploring possible areas of cooperation," Komorowski said.
The Polish president on Friday participated in the annual conference
in Riga. He met with the presidents of the three Baltic countries. Their
discussions focused on the economic problems in the context of the crisis,
international cooperation, including that within the EU and NATO, as well
as regional ties.
