COMMISSION OF REHABILITATING VICTIMS OF REPRESSIONS REPORTS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On occasion of the Day of victims of the politically repressed, which is marked on September 10 every year, members of the State Commission on Management and Organization of Rehabilitating Political Repression called Thursday a news conference.
According to Dr. O.Lhagvatseren, the secretary of the State Commission, documents of 6,300 victims are being examined at the archive of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Of them, cases of 1,354 victims have been solved. O.Lhagvasuren noted that a process of rehabilitating the victims of the repressions started latew April of 1939. Since then, some 30 thousand people have been acquitted so far, of them 25.5 thousand were rehabilitated after establishment of the State Commission, some 20 years ago. For the time being, compensations of MNT 16.3 billion has been granted to 17,376 rehabilitated people. As of first half year of 2010, 41 people have received MNT 39 million.
Apart of granting the compensation, apartments and gers (national dwelling) costing MNT 2.5 billion have been granted to 470 people and families of the victims who were executed in the repressions period.
The State Committee's members said a transmission of documents to Mongolia from Russia regarding some 400 Mongolian victims killed in Russia in 1930-1940s is running too slowly, only 8-10 cases a year. "In such a situation we will receive all dossiers in 50 years," they said and emphasized the transmission must be accelerated as much as possible.
