CANADIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTS LETTER OF CREDENCE
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia Mr. Gregory Goldhawk presented September 9 his letter of credence to Mongolia's President Ts.Elbegdorj.
After this ceremony Mr. Elbegdorj received the Ambassador and said that Canada is the second after China largest investor to Mongolia. "We want to deepen the bilateral relations not only in the mining, but also in food, agriculture, light industry, transportation, tourism, environment and education spheres," he said.
Mr. Goldhawk said that many kinds of work are awating him, for example, to conclude an agreement on mutual support and protection of investments, and assured the President that he will make effort in his work.
Gregory Goldhawk (BA [Political Science], Carleton University, 1977; MA [International Affairs], Carleton University, 1979; MBA, University of Western Ontario, 1981) worked as a researcher on the Macdonald Royal Commission on the Economic Union and Development Prospects for Canada with the Privy Council Office, and as a corporate planning officer with the Export Development Corporation prior to joining the Department of External Affairs in 1981. He has served in Canada’s diplomatic missions in Philadelphia, Pa., Washington, D.C., Athens, Sydney and Atlanta, Ga. At Headquarters, he has held numerous positions, including marketing officer with the U.S. Trade and Investment Development Division, deputy director of the U.S. Trade and Tourism Development Division and deputy director of the Korea and East Asia Division. He is currently commercial counsellor at the Canadian embassy in Bangkok. Mr. Goldhawk succeeds Anna Biolik.
