Ukraine steps up development of offshore gas fields in Black Sea, Sea of Azov.
KIEV, September 9 (Itar-Tass) -- Ukraine is stepping up the
development of offshore gas fields in Black Sea, Sea of Azov, which are
the main source of hydrocarbons for the country.
Fuel and Energy Minister Yuri Boiko said on Wednesday, September 8,
that Ukraine was taking vigorous steps to attract investors for the
development of offshore fields in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
Ukraine has invited leading international companies to join in.
"These are very costly and risky projects. This is why we will attract
leading international companies, and we are already doing it," Boiko said.
"If we develop all the fields we have offered to our partners, this
will increase gas production considerably and therefore improve the energy
security of Ukraine," the minister said.
