TURKPA SECRETARY GENERAL MEETS BELARUS AMBASSADOR
Baku, September 8 (AzerTAc). Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic Speaking Countries (TURKPA) Ramil Hasanov has met Belarus ambassador Nikolay Patskevich.
Hasanov briefed the diplomat on TURKPA`s structure and workings.
He noted the establishment of TURKPA was of both political and economic importance for not only the region, but also European countries. He also underlined the role of TURKPA in development of dialogue among countries through the parliamentary diplomacy.
Hasanov pointed out the role of TURKPA would continue to enhance in strengthening cooperation between the countries of the region and Europe.
The Secretary General also touched upon TURKPA`s international relations, saying it continues its work to establish cooperation with OSCE PA, PACE, NATO PA, CIS PA, OIC PA, BSEC PA and other international and regional structures.
Hasanov noted TurkPA was interested in expansion of cooperation with ambassador of Belarus.
Ambassador Patskevich, in turn, praised TURKPA`s work to establish cooperation with international organizations. The diplomat wished successes to the TurkPA saying he would always support the Organization.
Patskevich underlined the fact that TurkPA`s Secretariat is located in Azerbaijan demonstrates the country enjoys enormous prestige in the region.
The ambassador underlined the role of the Parliamentary Assembly in protection of historical and cultural values of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
Patskevich also pointed out Belarus was keen on development of relationship with Azerbaijan.
The Belarus ambassador was presented with the Assembly`s a collection of documents and a keepsake.
He also signed the Assembly`s guest book.
