MILLI MAJLIS SPEAKER MEETS DUTCH SENATE`S PRESIDENT
Baku, September 8 (AzerTAc). Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov has met today President of the Dutch Senate Rene van der Linden.
Asadov praised the relationship between Azerbaijan and Netherlands. He said high-level reciprocal visits contribute to strengthening bilateral ties.
The speaker recalled Rene van der Linden`s support for Azerbaijan when he worked as President of PACE. The speaker praised the fact that Rene van der Linden still remains Azerbaijan`s friend.
He also hailed the stance of Rene van der Linden on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
For his part, Rene van der Linden said the Netherlands was keen on development of cooperation with Azerbaijan. “The opening of Dutch embassy in Azerbaijan despite the global financial crisis is vivid evidence to this,” he added. He said the purpose of the visit was to exchange views on how to boost bilateral political and economic cooperation, as well as parliamentary ties.
The sides also discussed prospects for bilateral relations, sharing the same position within international organizations on common issues and other matters of mutual concern.
