MOSCOW, September 8 (Itar-Tass) - The future China-Kazakhstan-Russia
highway may stretch to Russia's Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad thus
crossing Belarus and Lithuania, Transportation Minister Igor Levitin said
at an economic forum on Wednesday, ITAR-TASS reported.
Under previous plans, the highway, which is to border with Kazakhstan
near the Russian city of Orenburg, was expected to stretch to St.
Petersburg. The ministry plans to make a final decision over the endpoint
of the highway in the near future, Levitin said.
The Chinese part of the highway has been already built, while the
Kazakh section is expected to be built next year, Levitin said.
Levitin also said Gazprombank, Sberbank, and VTB Bank could take part
in financing of the highway project.
