Pakistan President Musharraf visit China Aug 8 for Olympics
Islamabad, July 28 PPI: Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf will attend opening ceremony of Olympics Games in Beijing on August 8, 2008 at the invitation of Chinese government, Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said here Monday.
He told newsmen that President will also meet with Chinese leadership including President Hu Jintao. Leaders from various countries have confirmed participation at opening or closing ceremonies of Olympic Games and President Musharraf will haveopportunity to meet them.
The spokesman expressed confidence that participation of President in opening ceremony of Olympics and his interaction with Chinese leaders will provide further impetus to close and traditional ties with China.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani will lead Pakistan's delegation at Summit of eight-nation South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation SAARC in Sri Lanka capital Colombo on August 2-3. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi willattend session of SAARC Council of Ministers on July 31.
Sadiq said Qureshi will have meeting with his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee on sidelines of Summit. About possibility of Prime Minister's meeting with his Indian counterpart Dr Manmohan Singh, he said other meetings have not been confirmed as yet.
