D.BATTULGA MEETS UZBEKISTAN AND ITALY DELEGATION


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A Head of the President's Office D.Battulga has received Tamara Chikunova, a head of Mothers Against the Death Penalty and Torture based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and Stefano Argentina Storino, a coordinator of Italy's Community of Sant'Egidio for human rights affairs for Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
"The President's Office appreciates you visit to Mongolia as a sign of approving our President's decree that abolishes the capital punishment," he has said. Amnesty International and other international organization support this step, he went on. Draft amendments to related laws have been submitted to parliament in order to realize the President's decree, Battulga said adding that if Mongolia abolishes the capital punishment, it will be a good example for the Asian countries.
The visitors said they fully support Mongolian President's initiative and expreesd a hope that the capital punishment will be not only abolished but will be annulled completely. Then T.Chikunova and S.Storino spoke about mistakes and achievements of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
