PYONGYANG, September 7 (Itar-Tass) - The North Korean leading
newspaper Rodong Sinmun drew the following conclusion in an article
published on Tuesday: North Korea "refers itself with a feeling of pride
to countries, possessing nuclear weapons, fully guaranteeing thereby
prosperity of future Korean generations".
The newspaper stresses that "thanks to the military-oriented policy of
the country's leadership the DPRK has turned into an indomitable fortress
and an invincible state with strong defence industry, based on the latest
achievements of science and technology". "The demonstration of great
attention, given in the DPRK to the army and military activities, is
clearly traced all over the country," Rodong Sinmun notes.
In the newspaper's opinion, "the political and ideological might of
the DPRK under the banner of the Juche ideas has reached the highest
level". The army and the people "back their leader Kim Jong-Il with
patriotic enthusiasm, who is fully determined to continue the
revolutionary course for creating a prosperous state, initiated by the
country's founder Kim Il-Sung", the newspaper concludes.
North Korean newspapers publish a series of articles on merits of
their leaders and the country's achievements in various spheres in
connection with two important events: the nation-wide conference of the
Korean Workers Party and Republic Day (announced on September 9, 1948).
The party conference to be held for the first time since 1966, may be
called this week. It is expected that the governing bodies of the party
will be reshuffled at the forum.
