Mottaki’s comments on Mideast Peace talks distorted in local media

Tehran, Sept 7, IRNA – An informed source at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said here Monday that Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki’s remarks on Mideast Peace talks were distorted and carelessly reported in some local media.

The informed source at the Foreign Ministry was quoted by that ministry’s Information and Media Affairs Head Office as further saying: “Reporting carelessly in the sensitive foreign policy field can only inflict losses to the diplomatic apparatus of the country and create misunderstandings with other countries that can lead to non-remunerable aftermaths for the system’s policies and the country’s national interests.

He added, “The country’s diplomatic apparatus expects the media to observe the professional ethics, and to report carefully, keeping in mind the entire diplomatic delicacies, in line with the intentions of the country’s foreign apparatus, adding, “Our esteemed media fortunately act that way in majority of cases.”

Mottaki had been quoted by some Iranian media as criticizing some Arab leaders of betraying the Palestinian ideals in the course of former Middle East peace talks, which led to postponement of his meeting in Cairo with NAM troika, formerly scheduled for upcoming Monday./end
