Iranian girls to play China in Asian Volleyball Championship

TEHRAN, Sept. 4 (MNA) -- Iran will play powerhouse China in the 15th Asian Junior Women’s volleyball Championship which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam next week.

Iran has been drawn in Pool D along with China, Australia and South Korea.

Fifteen Asian countries divided into four pools will compete at the 15th Asian Junior Women’s volleyball Championship at Tan Binh and Phan Dinh Phung Gymnasiums from September 12 to 20.


Groups play in the round-robin format with two top teams progressing into the next round.

The tournament also serves as an Asian qualifying event for the World Youth Volleyball Championships 2011 in Turkey.

Organizers will also award seven individual prizes.

A: Vietnam, New Zealand, Kazakhstan
B: Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka
C: China Taipei, Thailand, Fiji, India
D: Iran, China, South Korea, Australia
