AZERBAIJAN, AUSTRIA SIGNS MEMO OF UNDERSTANDING ON FIGHT AGAINST CUSTOMS OFFENCES
Baku, September 2 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan and Austria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on fight against customs offences. The document was signed by Chairman of Azerbaijan`s State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev and State Secretary at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance Reinhold Lopatka.
Prior to the signing ceremony, Reinhold visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev.
He also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
Then he visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity. He laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument here.
The sides had conversation, during which Aliyev briefed Lopatka on the history of his country`s customs service. He noted the Program on development of customs services for 2007-2011 was underway in Azerbaijan.
Touching upon the relations between Azerbaijan and Austria, Aliyev noted the current trade turnover does not reflect the reality. “There is great potential to boost this cooperation,” he added.
Lopatka, in turn, said his country was keen on cooperation with Azerbaijan. He underlined tough Azerbaijan is a young country, it has developed very much.
Lopatka pointed out Austria had great experience in customs sphere, adding “we should derive benefit from our relevant experiences”.
