Kashmiri Muslims pays rich tributes to Imam Ali (A.S.)

Srinagar, India, Sep 2, IRNA – Kashmiri Muslims paid rich tributes to Imam Ali (A.S.) on his martyrdom anniversary on Wednesday.
Senior Kashmiri cleric and head of the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, speaking to a large religious gathering at a central city shrine to pay tribute to Hazrat Ali (A.S.) said that the government of India was “highly mistaken” if it thought that oppressive tactics and killings would subdue Kashmiris into renouncing their legitimate struggle.
In his homage to the Holy Imam for his unparalleled services to Islam, the Mirwaiz said that Imam Ali was an embodiment of courage, valour, and selflessness.
Warning the government of India to desist from its “vain efforts to suppress Kashmiris,” the Mirwaiz said that recent events had clearly proved what the people wanted.
“The government and the leadership of India should give up their narrow-minded and prejudiced approach and understand the ground reality in Kashmir, and undertake urgent measures to resolve the long-pending issue according to the aspirations of the people,” he said.
Meanwhile addressing people at Imam Bargah, Budgam in central Kashmir, Agha Syed Hassan al Mosavi, told a massive gathering that Imam Ali's line was the only way to salvation as the revered Imam was embodiment of valour and knowledge.
Hassan a senior leader of Hurriyat Conference, also endorsed the ongoing protests in Kashmir saying Kashmiris were fighting for their legitimate rights.
In Mirgund area of north Kashmir, Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari, senior Shia leader described the Imam Ali (A.S.) as a bold and valiant hero of Islam and said that Kashmiris would have to develop Alawi traits if they were to rid themselves of eternal slavery to India.
'The Imam honored the appellation from day one right up to his martyrdom, and added a glorious chapter to Islamic society by his God-given abilities, chivalry, courage and steadfastness,' Ansari said.
Former chairman of the, Hurriyat Conference, Maulana Abbas Ansari, said that Kashmiris would have to imbibe the character of the holy Imam if they were to seek deliverance from slavery to India.
Ansari described Imam Ali (A.S.) as the perfect human being, and said that he had never shown pride or arrogance despite his numerous incomparable feats. He said that Imam Ali's words and deeds were a practical delineation of the Holy Qur'an and the conduct of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)./end
