Russia's Kant airbase jets to take part in SCO anti-terror drill.

MOSCOW, September 1 (Itar-Tass) - Aircraft from Russia's Kant airbase
in Kyrgyzstan's Chui region will take part in the joint anti-terror
exercise of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Peace Mission 2010, the
press service of the Russian Defence Ministry told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
The manoeuvres will engage "over ten aircraft units - Su-24 bombers,
Su-25 fighter jets and Mi-8 transport helicopters," the press service said.
Russia's crews together with the Air Force of the SCO member-states
will master fire support to the ground troops during a joint anti-terror
operation and aircrew coordination at the testing ground Matybulak in
Kazakhstan's Zhambyl region, the press service said.
Russia will also send to the exercise over 1,000 servicemen, 130
armoured vehicles, 100 automobile units, around 1,300 small arms and more
than ten jets and helicopters.
Peace Mission 2010 due in Kazakhstan on September 9-25 will bring
together over 5,000 servicemen from the SCO member-states. The exercise
will include three stages and will last 17 days. The active phase of the
manoeuvres is scheduled for September 24.
The SCO includes Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and
Uzbekistan.
