RF-Mongolia Darkhan-3 tactical exercise begins in Buryatia.

ULAN-UDE, September 1 (Itar-Tass) - A Russian-Mongolian tactical
exercise with live firing practice, codenamed Darkhan-3, began at Buryatia'
s training ground Burduny on Wednesday.
"The participants will practice trapping and elimination of
paramilitary groups both in Russia and Mongolia and the evacuation and
repairs of damaged military hardware," the Siberian Military District
Commander's press secretary, Valery Shcheblanin, told Itar-Tass.
Taking part in the exercises are 600 Russian troops and 80 pieces of
military hardware and 250 Mongolian troops and 50 pieces of hardware. The
maneuvers will end on September 15.
The Darkhan exercise has been held since 2008. Its task is to better
interaction and partnership and ensure the comprehensive strengthening of
relations and military-technical cooperation between the Russian and
Mongolian armed forces.
Last year's exercise was held in Mongolia. Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev and his Mongolian counterpart Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj visited the
maneuvers' area then.
