ASTANA, September 1 (Itar-Tass) - Kazakhstan's President Nursultan
Nazarbayev is convinced the country has been moving the correct way over
the past 15 years.
"On August 30, we celebrated the national holiday - the 15th
anniversary of our Constitution," he said at the opening of the IV session
of the republic's parliament. "The Constitution opened a new stage of our
development, and the country was recognised for its achievements."
Over the current year, Kazakhstan was the first CIS country to chair
the OSCE, he said.
"We have successfully overcome the global crisis wave, but we cannot
relax, as the situation in the global economy remains unstable and we
should be prepared to any scenarios and should not spend too much," he
said. "We should watch the state funds, especially in the regions."
Nazarbayev told the parliament and the government to control the
rational use of money spent for the development programmes.
"Many tasks may be solved without extra money, and the state costs
should be reduced where possible," he said. "It s important we make
reserves."
Kazakhstan's 45 senators and 106 deputies of the lower chamber take
part in the joint meeting. Other participants include prime minister,
interior minister, heads of the presidential administration, chairpersons
of the Supreme Court and the Constitution council and heads of various
authorities.
