G.ZANDANSHATAR MEETS UNFPA ADVISOR
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Foreign Minister of Mongolia G. Zandanshatar received Tuesday Mrs. Kiran Bhatia, the Asia-Pacific Regional Advisor for Gender and Socio-Cultural Research at United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). They shared views on gender equality issues.
G. Zandanshatar introduced to Mrs. Bhatia the 3rd national report on realization of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and informed that realization of the report is being completed at 66 per cent.
The Foreign Minister mentioned that implementation of goals of reducing poverty, ensuring the gender equality and environmental stability have not been satisfied yet, and the government is paying an attention to complete implementation of the MDGs by 2015. Mr. Zandanshatar underlined that the laws "On gender equality" and "On election" will contribute to increasing women's participation in political life.
Ms. Kiran Bhatia appreciated efforts of ensuring the gender equality and supporting youths, and requested the Minister to support for approving the laws "On gender equality'' and ''laws on election'' in the near future.
