KOREAN INVESTORS EXPLORE INVESTMENT POSSIBILITIES IN PAPUA
Jayapura, Papua, July 27 (ANTARA)- Two South Korean businessmen dealing with agriculture and general mining have expressed their wish to invest in Keerom district, Papua, a local official said.
Rizal Aman M.MT, head of the provincial investment coordinating board (Bappeda) said the two Korean businessmen had exposed the company's profile, types of business activities they would engage and their objective to invest in Keerom before Keerom regent Celsius Watae here recently.
"The Korean investors are working in two companies respectively PT. Agro Jaya Indonesia with agricultural activity and PT Sumber Indah Persada, which will engage in general mining sector," Rizal said.
Following an expose of the two businessmen's activity, Keerom regent would issue license for survey activities for the two companies he said.
Rizal said further that, the survey results would be handed to the regent and the related office to notify that the business activities would not against environment sector.
"If the business does not violate the environment regulation, the Papua governor will issue a plantation business license based on the regent's letter. Then, the local government will publicize it to the society and discuss it with the people," he said.
Rizal also said, the investor who would carry out corn plantation needs about some 30 to 40 thousand hectars of land.
