Saudi Aramco Chief Technologist Honored by 'SPE' International

DHAHRAN, July 27, SPA - Ali H. Dogru, EXPEC ARC, Chief Technologist of the Computational Modeling Technology Team, received the Reservoir Description and Dynamics Award for 2008 from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International.

The award recognizes his achievements in petroleum engineering reservoir description and dynamics. Dogru is widely recognized for his leadership in reservoir simulation - currently the POWERS programthat has improved production efficiency for Saudi Aramco.

He also co-developed an Ultrasound Multiphase flow meter.

“Every member of the Computational Modeling Technology team worked with me over a decade and contributed significantly to achieving this award, " Dogru said.

Dogru is the 25th person and the first Saudi Aramco employee to receive the award, according to a report carried by Saudi Aramco'sweb-site.

In 1974, he earned his Ph.D. in petroleum engineering and applied mathematics from the University of Texas, where he became an SPEmember.

He has published more than 30 technical papers in several professional journals and served on various SPE committees, as a panelist at conventions, conducted editorial reviews and chaired andco-chaired SPE meetings.

He is chairman of SPE Journal of Petroleum Technology (JPT) Special Series Committee, of which he has been a member for the past six years.
