MONGOLIA AND JAPAN: WE WANT TO FORWARD BILATERAL COOPERATION


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Mr. Katsuya Okada paid an official visit to Mongolia August 29-30 at invitation of G.Zandanshatar, the Foreign Minister of Mongolia.
In frames of the visit, Mr. Okada was received by Ts.Elbegdorj, the President of Mongolia, and by the Prime Minister S.Batbold. Negotiations were held between the Foreign Ministers as well.
The Foreign Ministers noted that this official visit has been focused on ensuring a preparation for a visit of Mongolia's President to be paid to Japan in November this year.
The sides concluded a present situation of the Mongolia-Japan relations underlining that the two countries may enrich their bilateral cooperation with contents of trade, economics and investments.
The dignitaries shared views on developing a collaboration in the spheres of mineral resources, energy, agriculture and infrastructure. The Mongolian side said it wants to introduce the latest and environmentally-friendly techniques and technologies from Japan, to manufacture value-added products and to export them to Japan and other countries.
The sides expressed a mutual willingness to cooperate in nuclear energy sector. The Japanese side emphasized an importance of maintaining a sustainable legal environment, for great risk exists for the private sector in its penetrating into mineral sector.
The Ministers pointed out that they want to widen the bilateral comprehensive partnership cooperation taking into account importance, content and development of the ties between the countries. In addition, they exchanged views on possibility of establishing an economic partnership agreement.
The Foreign Ministers expressed their views and positions on the cooperation in a scope of the regional and multilateral relations and cooperation, on the Korean peninsula and on expanding of the United Nations Security Council.
Mr. Zandanshtar underlined that Mongolia highly speaks a significant contribution of Japan to ensuring international peace and security and to tackling the biggest problems faced to the international community, and expressed a willingness to support Japan's effort to seek a permanent membership in the UN Security Council.
After the negotiations, Mr. Zandanshatar gave his counterpart of Japan a banquet.
