Yemen, US company plan to absorb Yemenis in Gulf labor market

SANA'A, Aug. 30 (Saba)
- Yemen in cooperation with an American consulting company are planning to create
job
opportunities for Yemenis in the Gulf labor market in the coming years, according to
media reports released on Monday.
The source pointed out that the study which was prepared by MacKenzie and Company
dealt with the possibilities of offering jobs in the Gulf states for about 4
million Yemenis
by the year 2020.
This step aims at assisting Yemen to overcome the unemployment problem to reach its
lower level at a rate of 10 per cent.
The absorption of Yemeni workers in local and Gulf labor market is to be one of the
government's ten priorities which Yemen is going to concentrate on in the coming
period.
The cabinet General Secretary and Head of the Technical Committee for Priorities
implementation the Abdul-Hafez al-Semmah affirmed the importance of carrying out a
survey
on the local and Gulf labor markets to identify the real needs of training outputs.
The study seeks to increase the number of Yemeni workers in the Gulf states from 9
per cent to 20 per cent.
The implementation of this plan will lead to a positive economic impact insuring
$12-23 billion, the committee head said.
