Wilkie wants action on hospitals, pokies

Independent MP Andrew Wilkie wants the federal government to improve hospitals and
crackdown on poker machines.
The new member for the Tasmanian seat of Denison met with Prime Minister Julia
Gillard and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott in Canberra on Monday.
Following the meetings, Mr Wilkie reiterated the list he gave them was not a series
of demands but personal priorities.
"They are the issues, or some of the issues, that I feel very strongly about," he
told reporters at Parliament House.
"Of that list of 20-odd priorities, there are at least two priorities that I have
said both to the prime minister and to the opposition leader there must be reform
on."
Mr Wilkie said his state's only acute care hospital needed to be refurbished, while
he wanted to see laws governing poker machines reformed."
