UKRAINE IMPORTS $500 MILLION WORTH OF AZERBAIJANI CRUDE OIL

Baku, August 30 (AzerTAc). By means of the GUAM transit corridor in the first six months of 2010 Ukraine met its needs for crude by 25% which is a serious factor, the GUAM Secretary General Valeriy Chechelashvili said.
He said of $2bn which Ukraine spent for crude purchase in six months it imported crude oil from Azerbaijan in the amount of $500m. This has become possible because the Azerbaijan-Ukrainian-Georgian corridor is working stably.
By the way, this does not mean that Azerbaijan wants to draw someone out of there by means of its supplies to the Ukrainian market. On the other hand, the Ukrainian consumer gets a stronger negotiation position with suppliers of crude from the third countries, because real diversification and alternative appears.
GUAM is intended for strengthening positions of our all four countries. In the result of this project Ukraine covers 25% of its needs for oil, Azerbaijan gets an alternative market of oil products export, while Georgia wins from this transit.
