Parliament reviews economic growth rate, poverty decline report
SANA'A, July 27 (Saba)- The cabinet presented to the Parliament its report for 2007 showing that Yemen achieved economic growth in 2006 at 3.2% and raised it to 3.6% in 2007, despite decline in oil production.
Prime Minister Ali Mujawar, who presented the report, pointed out to the rise in implementing projects financed by foreign loans and assistances for 2008 as well as the financial pledges during and after the London Donors Conference which was held in November 2006 till last June that reached about $5.5 billion.
The report said that medium volume of the annual assistance for individuals raised from $13 to about $38.
In a step described by Premier as unprecedented in Yemeni economy history, the government planned an integrated program to activate local and foreign private sector contribution to implementing infrastructure projects and basic services.
