SPORT -- Russians leading in World Combat Sports Games
BEIJING, August 29 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's team leads in the World
Martial Art and Combat Sports Games in Beijing. Russians won three gold, a
silver and two bronze medals in the sumo and wushu competitions on the
first day.
The Chinese are the second (3-0-0), and the third are the Japanese
(1-5-2).
Sumo wrestlers Alan Karayev and Anna Zhigalova brought the first gold
medals. Karayev won in the heavy weight competition among wrestlers
weighing more than 115 kilogrammes. Zhigalova was the best among the
female wrestlers over 80 kilogrammes.
Anna Alexandrova of Russia won the silver medal in the
under-60-kilogrammes competition. She lost the final to Marina Prishchepa
of Ukraine.
Russian wushu masters won a gold and two bronze medals.
