Iran's defense minister launches production line of long-range shells

Tehran, Aug 29, IRNA – The production line of long-range 130-mm shells was inaugurated here on Sunday by the defense minister.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the new achievements of the Defense Ministry, Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said the shells with the range of 42 km will be used to destroy positions of the enemies in long distances.

He reiterated that the shells act as Ballistic missiles.

The new achievement will increase the combat and operational potentials of the armed forces significantly, the minister added.

Such achievements are indications to the self-sufficiency of the Islamic Republic in various fields and would prove that enemies’ sanctions have no effect on the Iranian nation, Brigadier General Vahidi noted.

The Defense Ministry has made public a number of its latest achievements during the Government Week (August 24-30).

The period is designated to the memory of former Iranian president Mohammad-Ali Rajaie and his prime minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar who were martyred in a bomb blast in the Presidential Office on August 30, 1981./end
