Belarus again refuses to extradite Kyrgyzstan's ousted president.

BISHKEK, August 27 (Itar-Tass) - Belarus has once again refused to
extradite Kyrgyzstan's ousted president Kurmanbek Bakiyev, Kyrgizstan's
Prosecutor General Baitemir Ibrayev said at a meeting held by Kyrgyz
interim President Roza Otunbayeva with the chief law enforcers on Friday.
Kyrgyzstan issued a second request to extradite Bakiyev in June after
Otunbayeva was elected interim president in the national referendum. "We
hoped that after the referendum, which made the country's authorities
legitimate, Belarus would answer in the positive, but received another
refusal" Ibrayev said.
Nonetheless, Ibrayev noted, there still is a chance to have the former
president back in the country to bring him to criminal liability. "We
shall try to find other ways," he stressed.
The former president is suspected of being involved in massacre of
April 7, when gunfire was opened at an opposition rally on the central
square on the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek, killing and wounding more
that 150 protesters. The aggressive crowd, however, forced Bakiyev first
to leave Bishkek and then to flee the country and seek asylum in Belarus.
