72 all as picture becomes clearer

The major parties look set to secure 72 lower house seats each as the final make-up
of the House of Representatives becomes clearer.
Brisbane remains the only seat over which any doubt remains, although the likely
outcome is for the coalition to wrest the seat from veteran Labor MP Arch Bevis.
The Liberal National Party's (LNP) Teresa Gambaro has extended her lead to almost
1000 votes.
The seat is no longer on the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) website's "close"
list, with Ms Gambaro's lead on Friday extending from 743 votes to 998 by day's end.
Ms Gambaro currently holds 50.68 per cent of the primary vote, compared to Mr Bevis'
49.32 per cent.
Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott maintains the coalition has 73 seats, making
it the largest bloc in parliament, but West Australian Nationals MP Tony Crook has
confirmed to AAP he considers himself an independent.
That leaves the final seat count of 72 for the coalition, 72 for Labor, five
independents and one Green.
Labor has so far picked up 50.45 per cent of the two-party preferred vote to the
coalition's 49.55 per cent.
The vote count is more than 82 per cent complete.
