Yemen, UK discuss media cooperation

SANA'A, Aug.25 (Saba)- Yemen and Britain discussed here on Wednesday issues of cooperation between the two countries, especially in media
field.

This came during a meeting gathered Information Minister Hassan al-Lawzi and the
second secretary and the media official at the UK embassy to Sana'a, Daisy Oregon,
and the
representative of Thomson Foundation for media training and development in London,
Abdul Alim al-Shamiri.
Talks in the meeting dealt with ideas provided by Thomson Foundation to the Yemeni
ministry and medial institution to improve Yemen's image abroad.
The two sides discussed cooperation in area of training Yemeni cadres and
requirements of developing and modernizing Yemeni media and enhancing its role in
improving Yemen's
image.
Al-Lawzi praised the UK government's efforts to support plans and programs of
development and reforms in Yemen, hoping further contributions in the media area,
weather from
Thomson foundation or from other institutions specialized in media in the UK,
especially the BBC.
It was agreed to meet with specialists at the Yemeni General Corporation for Radio
and TV and press organizations and the Institute of Media Training and
Rehabilitation
in order to draft a comprehensive agreement on cooperation in this field.
For her part, the British official noted to the distinction of Thomson Foundation
in providing training services and skill-enhancing capabilities, which come from
the depth
of its experience and expertise in this area.
