Saudi Medical Team arrives in Yemen
Sana’a, July 26, SPA -- A Saudi medical team from The Prince Sultan Cardiac Center, an affiliate of The Armed Forces Medical Services headed by Dr. Huwaida Al-Qathami, the Chief of the cardiac surgery centre arrived here today to conduct a number of heart operations atAl-Thawrah General Hospital in Sanaa.
In an arrival statement, Dr. Huwaida said the visit comes under the framework of cooperation between the two countries in health and scientific fields, pointing out that the operations that would be conducted by the medical team comprising 39 specialists, include surgeries for congenital heart defects (CHD) in newborn and prematureinfants, in addition to adult patients who suffer congenital defects.
She also said that medical tests had been conducted for nearly 160 patients in preparation for the operations so far completed. In addition, 180 other patients will undergo similar tests during the upcoming days, reiterating that the medical team is keen onundertaking the largest possible number of operations.
She pointed out to arrival of two aircraft carrying the specializedequipment, tools and medicines for conducting such complex surgeries.
For his part, Director of Al-Thawrah General Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Ansi explained that this medical team is the largest medical mission to reach Yemen so far, indicating that Yemeni doctors will participate in the conduct of operations that will continue over three or fourweeks to gain more experience.
He lauded the existing cooperation and support provided by hospitals and specialized centers in Saudi Arabia to Yemen especially in the field of heart diseases which underlines the depth of brotherlyrelations between peoples of Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
