RUSSIAN PRESIDENT HAS TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH TURKISH COUNTERPART
Moscow, August 23 (AzerTAc). Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has had a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul.
The two presidents discussed implementation of decisions reached during Mr. Medvedev`s official visit to Turkey in May 2010, and exchanged views on developments in the Trans-Caucasus region and coordinating Russian and Turkish efforts to promote peace and stability in this region.
President Medvedev thanked the Turkish leadership and people for their help and support in the disaster relief efforts in Russia.
He also said that Russia is ready to provide any necessary assistance in fighting forest fires in western Turkey.
President Gul thanked the Russian leader for this offer and noted that Turkey knows its Russian friends are always ready to come to Turkey`s aid. Both leaders underlined that this mutual solidarity reflects the genuine strategic partnership that exists between the two countries.
