D.DEMBEREL RECEIVES CHAIRMAN OF DEFENSE COMMITTEE OF BUNDESTAG

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Parliament Speaker of Mongolia D.Demberel received Monday Dr. Karl A. Lamers, Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG).
Beginning the meeting, the Speaker emphasized that the Mongolia-Germany relations and cooperation in all spheres such as politics, economics, defense and humanity have been developing successfully in recent years, and noted that Germany supported Mongolia's democracy and reforms. Mentioning that Germany has rendered assistance and given non-refundable aid of over EUR 300 million to Mongolia, he expressed his satisfaction with consequences of implementation of many projects and training-seminars on electoral system and strengthening the democratic system.
The Speaker underlined that the visit of the Defense Committee of the Bundestag is an expression of widening of the collaboration between the State Great Khural and the Bundestag and regularizing of mutual visits and meeting of parliamentarians of the countries. “Defense issue plays important role in the bilateral cooperation. Our troops are being served in Afghanistan for peacekeeping operation and reconstruction under command of the Germany's military,” Mr. Demberel stressed, and expressed a willingness to involve Mongolian military experts in training in Germany.
In turn, Mr. Karl pointed out that Mongolia is an exemplary country in the region for developing democracy and market economy. He added that there is an opportunity for Mongolia that is wealthy with mineral resources, Germany and European countries having big experiences of technique and technologies, and then promised to work with great efforts to propagandize Mongolia not only in his country, but also in European countries.
Mr. Karl said that he agree with the Mongolia's Speaker that the two countries manage to understand each other for security and defense matters. He emphasized that Mongolia is able to cooperate and share opinions at level of NATO's parliament members on defense and security issues.
At the end of the meeting, the Speaker expressed thanks to Mr. Karl, and expressed a confidence that the countries will bring their relations into the a strategic level.
Present the meeting were Z.Enkhbold, head of the parliamentary Standing committee on security and foreign policy; Kh.Narankhuu MP; and other officials.
