Minister: Iran, Malaysia and Turkey have best situation to produce car
Tehran, July 26, IRNA - Industry and Mines Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian said among 56 Muslim countries Iran, Malaysia and Turkey have the best situation to produce car.
Speaking in a ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) on cooperation between SAIPA, an Iranian car production company, and PROTON, a Malaysian car production company, in the venue of Industry Ministry here on Friday, Mehrabian said taking advantage of Islamic countries big market had been underlined in the Organization ofIslamic Conference (OIC) meeting.
He added SAIPA and PROTON can take advantage of their common potentials and capacities in the field of car manufacturing to accessto the new markets.
He welcomed the signed MoU between the two companies as a good start for joint cooperation and added, "It is expected that the move could be a strategic step toward continuation of joint activities in the field of car manufacturing." SAIPA Managing Director Mehrdad Bazrpash and PROTON Managing Director Zeinolabedin Seyyed MUhammad Taher signed a MoU on cooperation in thepresence of Industry and Mines Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian.
SAIPA exported cars to 29 countries and PROTON also exported around20,000 cars to different countries in the year 2007.
