Emergency situation regimen in Moscow region to last till Sept 15
MOSCOW, August 21 (Itar-Tass) -- In the Moscow Region the emergency
situation regimen will last till September 15, Governor Boris Gromov said
Friday at a meeting of the regional center for fighting wildfires.
The gubernatorial press-service quotes Gromov as saying that on orders
from the Russian president the emergency situation state around Moscow
had been canceled. Nevertheless, the governor said, at the regional level
the emergency situation regime will stay effective till mid-September.
"The fire situation in the Moscow Region has stabilized, but despite
this, no one should relax - neither the municipal authorities, nor the
group of forces that is involved in putting out the fires," he said.
The regional emergency situation regime was introduced under the
governor's resolution in 21 districts and five urban areas of the Moscow
region in early August. It provides for restricted access of individuals
and motor vehicles into the forests. The services concerned were ordered
to ensure public order in the area and to organize patrols of forest roads
and peat bogs to keep visitors away with the aim to prevent fires.
