NATIONAL REPORT SENT TO UN

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The United Nations General Assembly issued March 15, 2006, a 60/251 resolution obliging all the UN member-states to report on their human rights situation to the UN Human Rights Council once in a four-year time. Accordingly, Mongolia and other 15 countries delivered officially their national reports on 17 August 2010.
The Human Rights Council plans to complete national reports discussions by 2011 by arranging its three forums a year and considering 48 states' national reports. Mongolia's Report is to undergo two discussions--at the 9th regular session of the Human Rights Council's working group in Jenewa November 2010, and at the 16th forum of the Human Rights Council March 2011.
To prepare the Report, a working group was created led by Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs and consisting of related ministries and agencies' bodies. The group worked according to guidance and plan and organised two meetings with the UN and civil society NGOs.
The report, consisting of six chapters and 102 clauses, has been worked out according to the guidance from the Human Rights Council and greatly reflects ideas of reports on ''International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights'' , ''Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment", "Convention on the Rights of the Child" of 2009 and 2010.
The project was placed in a website of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia for gathering the public opinions, many interviews were given about it, and was advertised during the human rights conferences and seminars.
