CUSTOMS OFFICE EARNS RP42.36 TRILLION IN S1 OF 2008
Jakarta, July 25 (ANTARA) - The Customs and Excise Office (DJBC) earned Rp42.36 trillion in state revenue in the first semester of 2008, or about 56.71 percent of its revenue target at Rp74.70 trillion this year, a DJBC official said.
Director for Revenue and Legislation Affairs (PPKC) of the DJBC, Hanafi in the DJBC website as quoted on Friday said that the Rp42.36 revenues consisted of Rp10.09 trillion of import duties (BM), Rp8.67 trillion of export taxes (BK) and Rp23.60 trillion of excise duties.
He said that the realization of BM, BK and excise duty receipts in the first semester of 2008 increased 25.55 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.
The increase was thanks to increasing BM revenue by Rp3.40 trillion or about 23.61 percent.
He said that the increase in the BM in the first semester of 2008 was due to an increase in the value of good imports by US$23.49 million or about 81.78 percent. This was due to the surge in the prices of commodities in the world market as well as the rise of the dollar currency rate against the rupiah which rose 228.79 points from Rp9,035.87 to 9,264.66 per US dollar.
