Iranian-Syrian officials confer expansion of trade ties

Tehran, Aug 17, IRNA – Iran’s Commerce Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari and visiting Director of the Syrian Prime Minister’s Office Tayseer al-Zoubi reviewed ways to foster bilateral trade relations in a meeting on Tuesday.
The Iranian minister said the two countries should promote ties in order to reach the aim of two-billion-dollar worth of bilateral trade cooperation.
Ghazanfari also expressed Iran’s readiness to set up a joint bank to facilitate trade exchange between Tehran and Damascus.
Signing an agreement for expansion of Iran-syria trade ties as well as bilateral cooperation on transport of goods and implementation of technical and engineering projects were among other major issues discussed by the two sides.
The Syrian official said for his turn that Iran is a successful country in the fields of exports and production.
Al-Zoubi further hoped the two countries would promote bilateral ties./end
