Minister of Fisheries meets UNDP's country evaluation team
SANA'A, Aug.16 (Saba)- Fisheries Wealth Minister Mohamed Shamlan met on Monday with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) 's country evaluation team, headed by Sultan Barakat.
Talks in the meeting dealt with the possibility of availing from the projects
provided by the UNDP for the economic sectors in Yemen.
The two sides discussed main trends to support the fisheries sector, including
complementation of the national strategy for fisheries sector, carrying out studies
on fish
stocks, promoting researches, creating joint projects in aquiculture field, as well
as the exploitation of fisheries wealth available in the marine waters of Yemen.
Shamlan pointed out that the fish sector suffers from infrastructure lack,
stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation with donors to allocate more
infrastructure
projects in the coastal provinces, in addition to the development of information and
database of fish sector.
For his part, Head of the UNDP's team voiced his readiness to work on allocating
more projects to serve the infrastructure of fish sector in Yemen, pointed out that
the
team's visit aimed at getting acquainted with the challenges and main trends to
support economic sectors in the region.
