New lead in cold case body

The unidentified body in a two-year-old Queensland cold case is a step closer to
being identified, with police chasing a new lead.
A workman discovered the body of the 45 to 60-year-old near the eastern spillway of
the Poona Dam near Nambour in Queensland's southeast on September 9, 2008. Police
from the missing persons unit will be visiting Kingaroy businesses on Tuesday after
receiving a tip off.
Detective Senior Sergeant Damien Powell said the lead came after police put photos
of the dead man's tattoos on display at the Sunshine Coast show in June.
The tattoos included a Native American woman with headdress and warrior style image,
and a shark and a buzzard.
Det Sen Sgt Powell said the only identification located on the man was a Kingaroy
video shop card but that had not identified him.
"The new information certainly points towards Kingaroy as an area we need to
re-visit," he said.
"While the death is considered non-suspicious, police are keen to identify the man,
to notify his family and draw an end to this intensive investigation."
