Sana'a Governor meets director of Safe Maternity Project
SANA'A, Aug. 15 (Saba) -
Sana'a Governor Numan Duwaid met on Sunday with acting executive director of the
Mother and
Child Development Organization, director of the safe maternity project, Afrah Abdul
Aziz al Zouba. They discussed and reviewed arrangements for the project in Sana'a as
well
as the role of the organization in its execution with $ 2.8 million granted by the
World Bank. Duwaid stressed the importance of expanding the project to cover all
districts
in Sana'a as he voiced readiness to offer all support to make it a success. Also,
director general of the health and population office Khalid Abul Muntasir said the
office
is ready to identify six areas in the province to ensure the project services are
provided easily to the people. Al-Zouba, for her part, reviewed the goals of the
project
that will offer services for over 12000 pregnant women over two years according to
the standards of the World Health Organization. The project will provide services
during
and after delivery, costs for risky delivery cases that require intervention and
following up and evaluation services, she said. Services will also be provided to
mobile
clinics in the six areas in cooperation with the province leadership and the office,
she added, pointing out that in the first week a workshop would be organized to set
out
plans and mechanisms for implementing the project. FR
