DELEGATION OF UNEP VISITING
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A delegation headed by Dr. Pak Young Woo, a director of the United Nations Environment Program's (UNEP) Service for Asia-Pacific Affairs, started Monday a visit to Mongolia.
The UNEP's delegation comprises Wang Hua Yang, a legal advisor to the Service for Asia-Pacific Affairs, and Mozaharul Alam, an advisor on climate affairs. They aim to determine guidelines of cooperation with Mongolia in 2011 and further period.
On the first day of the visit, the delegation met with the State Secretary and some officials of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism to share opinions.
In 2002, the UNEP rendered an assistance to Mongolia in working out a report on climate forecast of Mongolia and Ulaanbaatar city. The UNEP is cooperating with Mongolia in informing forecast of natural disasters, drawing up natural evaluation and policy, in implementation policies, in production of new technologies and in having Mongolian specialists work in regional service of the UNEP, in accordance with a basic contract established in 2003.
As of present, the UNEP is working out a project on bio-security and is paying attention to climate change in Mongolia, natural disasters and crisis, management for eco-system, governance of environment and effectiveness of natural resources.
