PYONGYANG, August 15 (Itar-Tass) - Speaking at a reception on the
occasion of the 65th anniversary of Korea's liberation, Russian Minister
of Regional Development Viktor Basargin said in Pyongyang on Sunday that
"there was an exchange of opinions on the state of Russian-Korean
cooperation, above all in the economy, regrettably living not through the
best time".
The Russian statesman expressed this idea at a meeting with North
Korean Foreign Minister Ri Ryong Nam.
According to the statesman, who is chairman of the Russian part of the
intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical
cooperation, "the sides mapped out ways for resolving ripe issues".
"I believe," he emphasized, "our understandings will be reflected in
the final protocol of the fifth meeting of the intergovernmental
commission, called upon to single out the main tacks of our cooperation in
these spheres in the near future." Basargin assured Korean colleagues that
the Russian side "will take appropriate efforts to boost diverse and
mutually advantageous relations between our states".
In turn, Ri as co-chairman of the Korean-Russian intergovernmental
commission also favoured further development of bilateral relations and
wished Russian people successes in developing the economy.
