Iran to continue enrichment: MP

Tehran, Aug 15, IRNA – Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Sunday the continuation of uranium enrichment is inevitable because Iran does not have confidence in the western states.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the Majlis Sunday session, Boroujerdi said the US, France and Germany have violated their formal agreements with Iran, so the country has no confidence in them.

Asked whether Iran will continue enrichment after fuel injection into the Bushehr power plant or not, Boroujerdi replied fuel injection and uranium enrichment are two different issues.

Boroujerdi said so while referring to the statement made by the US officials who had declared that Iran did not need enrichment if it would load fuel to the Bushehr nuclear power plant.

If Iran builds another nuclear power plant in future or the Russian side does so, we will need to provide fuel for it, the parliamentarian noted.

About the Vienna group’s talks with Iran, Boroujerdi said any dialogue with them will be based on the Tehran Declaration.

Iran, Brazil and Turkey have recently reached agreement on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities and called it Tehran Declaration.

Vienna group includes Russia, France, the United States and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)./end
