Iran's Ahmadinejad condoles China mudslide deaths

Tehran, Aug 15, IRNA – Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sent a message of condolence to his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao over the death of many Chinese people caused by the recent heavy rains and mudslide in that country.
President Ahmadinejad also expressed his condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the victims' families wishing for a speedy recovery of the injured.
China mourned the deaths of more than 1,200 people killed in the mudslide caused by heavy rains which hit a number of provinces in that country since August 10.
Heavy rains and floods from rivers hit the provinces of Gansu, Sichuan, Shandong, and Shaanxi.
Some 550 people were also reported missing in the provnice of Gansu.
The storms have affected 3 million people and 667,000 hectares of crops, causing estimated losses of 11.3 billion yuan ($1.7 billion), China’s Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said in its latest statement./end
