INTERNATIONAL OMBUDSMAN CONFERENCE TO BE HELD IN MANILA
Baku, August 15 (AzerTAc). The Asian Ombudsman Association (as a part of ADB- assisted RETA project) the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Philippines Ombudsman will jointly hold a two-day regional conference in Manila on August 24 – 25, 2010. This conference will present the highlights of 5 cross country studies and a Pakistan specific study on various aspects of ombudsmanship in Asia.
The conference will bring together the heads of various ombudsman and accountability institutions of Asia, academic scholars and representatives of non-government organizations to discuss the various factors related to the independence, accountability, accessibility and mandate of the ombudsman. At the end of the conference, participants will be requested to identify and adopt basic best practice principles to guide Asian Ombudsman Institutions in the performance of their functions.
Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova will attend the event to tell about the activity of the institution.
