PB, JAPAN TO HOLD SEMINAR ON ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY COASTAL FISHERY DEVELOPMENT

Bogor, West Java, July 25 (ANTARA) - The Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, will jointly organize an international seminar on environmentally friendly coastal fishery development, in Bogor on Saturday (July 26).

The seminar was held also in cooperation with Makassar-based Hasanuddin University and the Indonesian marine and fishery ministry, according to IPB spokesperson Henny Windarti here on Friday.

The seminar's theme will be "Empowerment of Coastal Fisheries through Development of Cost-Effective Fishing Gear and Seaweed Aquabusiness".

Three speakers will present their papers in the seminar's first session, namely Prof Dr Indra Jaya of IPB, Prof Dr Takafumi Arimoto of the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, and Prof Dr Hisao Ogawa of the Kitasato University (Japan).

Marine and Fishery Minister Freddy Number is scheduled to officially open the seminar.
