Road accidents register 10 % fall in 2010 first half

SANA'A, Aug 14 (Saba) - Road
accidents registered in all over the country have declined with 10.15 percent during
the
first half of 2010 compared to the same period of 2009.
According to the Interior Ministry, the Traffic Department has registered during
January-June of 2010 about 6,899 accidents that is 810 accidents less than those
have been
registered in the same period of 2009, which were 7,709.
Statistics issued by the department showed that the accidents distributed to 2,505
crash accidents, 2,249 run-over, 984 vehicles' overturning, 252 crash and 110
falling
accidents in addition to other various accidents.
The accidents were taken place due to many reasons, topped by over speed that
caused about 2,614 accidents of the total number.
Drivers' careless came second of the accidents occurrence's reasons with around
1,099 ones. Many other reasons were behind the accidents including technical faults,
tires
explosion, natural factors and others.
The statistic also indicated that 4,427 of the accidents have occurred on flat
roads, 613 in slope roads, 1,171 accidents in crossroads, 525 in intersections and
117 in
bridges, while only 46 accidents have occurred in closed roads.
